The Context
The Challenge: The On-Demand Gap in Hyper-Local Delivery
While the pandemic accelerated food and grocery delivery platforms, on-demand point-to-point micro-deliveries (e.g., forgotten office lunches, urgent medication, confidential business documents) remained fragmented and complex.
KEY INSIGHT
To make informed product decisions, I conducted secondary desk research and user interviews across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to evaluate existing courier platforms and user motivations.
FRICTION POINTS DISCOVERED
Instructional Ambiguity: Users struggled with unclear packaging and pickup rules on existing platforms.
Delivery Anxiety & Delays: Lack of real-time courier visibility created mistrust regarding urgent or confidential items.
Surge Pricing Frustration: Unpredictable peak-hour price swings caused high booking abandonment rates.
Compliance & Misuse: Risk of illegal item dispatch due to absent verification protocols.
SOLUTION
core Ux pillars
Accessibility-Focused Mobile Architecture: Built with high-legibility visual hierarchies and simplified step-by-step inputs, allowing elderly users to place an order without digital fatigue.
Real-Time 90-Minute Fulfillment: Integrated dynamic status tracking and live driver mapping to eliminate delivery anxiety for time-sensitive items.
Verified Professional Handling: Introduced clear service tiers and badge indicators for trained parcel partners handling sensitive business documents.

Iterations
Validating Interactions Through Usability Testing
To derisk the product direction before high-fidelity visual production, we conducted iterative usability sessions and A/B testing. Evaluating interactive prototypes with real users allowed us to validate key booking flows, align cross-functional stakeholders, and ensure the interface met accessibility expectations.
